UPROOTED

February 2026
in the Center Gallery

Uprooted is an exhibition by Jasmin Warnock that explores how identity is shaped by place, memory, and lived experience. A British immigrant raised in Mississippi and currently living in Atlanta, Warnock draws from the environments of the Deep South to examine how childhood spaces and personal history inform who we become and how we present ourselves to the world.

Working primarily in relief woodcut, linocut, monoprint, and screenprinting, Warnock uses printmaking as both process and vessel. Her work centers on repetition, patience, and material engagement, allowing ideas to surface slowly through carving, inking, and printing. Domestic spaces, houses, florals, and natural elements appear throughout the work as markers of memory, with recurring motifs such as magnolias serving as visual anchors to specific moments and environments from her past.

The exhibition functions as a loose timeline, connecting different stages of Warnock’s life through imagery rooted in home and landscape. The house becomes an intimate gateway into memory, while natural and domestic environments operate as emotional maps, pinpointing experiences that continue to shape identity over time.

In addition to printed works, Uprooted includes a site-specific installation painted directly onto the gallery wall, expanding the exhibition beyond the frame and into the physical space of the gallery. Together, the prints and installation invite viewers to reflect on their own relationships to place, memory, and belonging, and to consider how shared experiences can foster connection across differences.

An opening reception will take place Friday, February 6 at 5:30 PM and will include an artist talk, light hors d’oeuvres, and drinks. The exhibition will remain on view in the Center Gallery following the reception.

Sponsors Help Us Do More!

This exhibit is supported by a Center Gallery Sponsor. Each month, our Center Gallery exhibitions are made possible in part by this sponsorship, which helps us promote the show across print, social media, and our website, and allows us to host a welcoming opening reception with light refreshments. We’re grateful for this partnership, which helps us share artists’ work more widely and create a space where the community can gather, talk about art, and feel at home in the gallery.
