Arts in Appalachia Storytelling Series: Demo and Dialogue with Kim Joris

  • Cherokee County Arts Council 33 Valley River Avenue Murphy, NC, 28906 United States (map)

Theme: Love Thy Neighbor

Join Center Gallery guest artist Kim Joris for a special evening of storytelling, conversation, and creative process as part of the Arts in Appalachia Storytelling Series.

The theme for the evening is “Love Thy Neighbor.” Kim will share stories about her neighbors and the people who shape the communities around her, and how those stories influence the assemblage works in her exhibition In Case You Forgot. Throughout the event she will demonstrate parts of her creative process and talk about how reclaimed materials, symbols, and simple words become meaningful works of art.

Guests will be encouraged to share stories of their own neighbors and experiences, making the evening a conversation built around community and shared values. The event will also include a small creative element for those who wish to participate.

This free program offers a chance to meet the artist, hear the stories behind her work, and explore how everyday experiences can inspire art and dialogue.
