The Cherokee County Arts Council is pleased to welcome the Amicitia Duo for the next concert in our Arts in Appalachia series on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 7 p.m.

Formed out of friendship, the Amicitia Duo brings music for clarinet to audiences across the country and beyond. Amicitia, pronounced “ah-mee-KEE-tee-ah,” is the Latin word for friendship. With a friendship spanning nearly forty years, Diane Barger and Denise Gainey combine their love of music, performance, and teaching to create concerts that are engaging, joyful, and deeply musical.

The duo has performed throughout the United States, including Florida, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri, and Iowa. They have also appeared at International Clarinet Association ClarinetFests® and National Association of College Wind and Percussion Instructors Conferences. Their debut CD, Play Pretty, was released in January 2020 on the Potenza Music label.

This will be the second concert in the Cherokee County Arts Council’s Arts in Appalachia series, which brings unique high-quality music and storytelling performances to our rural region. We expect it to be an evening of joyful music from two talented performers.
